0800 Hours:
Depart Nairobi and leave towards the central highlands of Thika. Only 80 kilometers from the city center ,Ol Donyo Sabuk is rugged,hump-backed outcrop of ancient rock jutting high above the Athi plain and hazily visible from Nairobi.
Ol Donyo Sabuk is densely forested mountain .Hiking Ol Donyo Sabuk mountain highlights include montane landscape,wildlife watching and butterfly kingdom,unusual burial site to the grave of sir William Northrup,McMillan ,geology and abundant bird life among many other features.
One road leads to it summit ,which offers magnificent panoramas over the Athi River,the pineapples fields of Thika and the snow capped peaks of both Mt Kenya and Mt Kilimanjaro.Within easy reach of Nairobi,the lush vegetation and cool air of this compact and scenic national park,make it ideal for a day trip.
